Snooze Button: Boston edition
I’m hitting the snooze button this week, which means no new content from me. But instead I’ll share a piece I wrote two years ago for Good Beer Hunting’s Read.Look.Drink column, in which I explore three Boston-related things that intrigued me: a book, a television show, and a drink.
Check it out if you’re a fan of cream-filled donuts, baked beans, eccentric ladies, and the world’s most notorious unsolved art mysteries. (Really!)
You can read the original Read.Look.Drink piece here. Or you can scroll down for screenshots (and some extra commentary) below.
Isabella Stewart Gardner: A Life.
she really did walk a lion through the streets of boston, btw.
you can order “wasabi roulette” here, where the table gets six pieces of hamachi and scallion roll, but ONE of them contains super spicy wasabi. You won’t know which one until you try. We did this with our family and the person with the lowest spice tolerance, naturally, got the super spicy one. It was fine, though, because the dish is also served with a baby bottle full of cooling horchata.
Bonus Boston suggestions:
Tomorrow and Tomorrow and Tomorrow by Gabrielle Zevin. All of your friends told you it is great, and all of your friends are right.
The Pixies! 2026 is the 40th anniversary of the band’s forming. Icons.
What are your favorite Boston things? What is your favorite Pixies song? Share it in the comments. I’m contractually obligated to say “Allison.”

I would be all in on wasabi roulette! Not that different from shishito peppers (there's always that one spicy pepper lurking, waiting to get you).
Love this! Mine used to be "I've Been Tired" but then I listened to "Here Comes Your Man" a million times after playing it for Noah and it still pops up in my head once a week, ha!
